Terms of Service
Effective Date: Aug 19, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of www.gjrliteracy.com, courses.gjrliteracy.com, and your purchase, access, and use of online courses, digital products, downloads, and related online services offered by GJR Literacy LLC (“GJR Literacy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
GJR Literacy LLC is operated by Gerrit Jones-Rooy.
By using either website, creating an account, or purchasing or accessing a course or digital product, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the websites, course platform, or digital products.
1. Eligibility
The GJR Literacy course platform, purchases, and customer accounts are intended for adults who are at least 18 years old.
A parent or legal guardian may purchase or arrange educational support involving a child. The adult remains responsible for the account, payment, communications, and acceptance of these Terms.
2. Website and Services
GJR Literacy provides information and educational support related to literacy instruction. Offerings may include:
Self-paced online courses
Downloadable instructional resources
Individual teacher coaching
Family consultations and student support
School and district partnerships
Workshops, modeling, curriculum planning, and professional learning
Submitting an inquiry or participating in an introductory conversation does not create a client or consulting relationship. Coaching, family support, and school partnerships are arranged through a separate proposal, invoice, agreement, or scope of work before services begin.
If a separate written agreement conflicts with these Terms, the separate agreement will control for that service.
3. Accounts and Account Security
You may need to create an account to purchase or access a course or digital product.
You agree to provide accurate information and keep your login details secure. Accounts and course access are for the registered user only, including when access is purchased through a team or organizational license. Each participating educator must use their own assigned account and seat.
You may not:
Share your username or password
Allow another person to use your individual account
Create accounts using false or misleading information
Attempt to access another user's account
Circumvent course access, payment, or security controls
Please contact us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
4. Purchases and Payment
Prices, payment options, and included materials are shown on the applicable sales page or provided in a separate quote or agreement.
Payments may be processed through Thinkific and its associated payment provider, or another third-party payment provider. The payment provider's own terms and privacy practices also apply to the transaction.
You are responsible for providing accurate billing information and paying any applicable taxes, fees, or charges disclosed at purchase.
5. Course Access
Course purchases provide a limited, personal, non-transferable right to access the purchased course and its included materials.
Unless otherwise stated on the sales page, courses are self-paced and include lifetime access.
For these Terms, "lifetime access" means access for as long as GJR Literacy continues to offer and support the course through its course platform. It does not guarantee that a course, website, platform, or individual feature will remain available indefinitely.
GJR Literacy may update, reorganize, replace, or retire course content when reasonably necessary. When practical, we will provide advance notice of a material change that affects purchased access.
6. Permitted Use of Courses and Materials
All courses, videos, demonstrations, worksheets, protocols, downloads, text, graphics, and other materials are owned by GJR Literacy or used with permission.
An individual purchaser may:
View the purchased course for their own professional learning
Download included resources for their own use
Apply the routines, strategies, and approaches they learn in their own teaching practice
Use and reproduce instructional materials with students they personally teach or directly support, unless the resource states otherwise
Adapt a routine or approach for their own classroom context
Course access is licensed by individual learner. Each educator who views or participates in a course must have their own account and assigned seat through Thinkific, whether the seat is purchased individually or through a school, district, or team bundle.
An individual purchase does not authorize group viewing, staff training, professional development, or course access for colleagues.
School, district, and team purchases provide one seat for each participating educator. Any additional permissions will be stated in the applicable purchase agreement.
Unless GJR Literacy provides written permission or a separate agreement expressly states otherwise, you may not:
Share course login information or allow another person to use your account
Display or deliver course videos, lessons, or materials as training or professional development for other educators, colleagues, staff members, or third parties
Forward or distribute course files to colleagues
Upload course materials to a shared drive, learning-management system, staff portal, or public website
Record, copy, download, or redistribute course videos
Create or distribute a workshop, course, facilitator guide, training program, or other instructional product that copies, reproduces, or closely adapts GJR Literacy's course content or materials
Resell, sublicense, publish, or commercially distribute the materials
Remove copyright, attribution, or ownership notices
Present GJR Literacy's materials as your own work
Upload, submit, enter, scrape, or otherwise make available course content or materials to train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, or improve an artificial-intelligence, machine-learning, or other automated system (an "AI System")
Teachers may use general-purpose AI tools to support their own lesson planning or classroom preparation. They may use their own original notes, reflections, and lesson plans based on what they have learned through GJR Literacy.
However, they may not upload, paste, submit, reproduce, or otherwise provide GJR Literacy course videos, transcripts, written lessons, downloads, worksheets, protocols, free resources, or substantial portions or excerpts of those materials to an AI System.
A brief, attributed quotation or reference to a GJR Literacy idea or strategy in a conversation with an AI tool is permitted. This permission does not extend to providing the materials themselves or substantial excerpts from them.
GJR Literacy materials may not be used to generate courses, workshops, professional-development materials, or other instructional products for distribution or sale, or to train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, or improve an AI System.
7. Free Resources
Free resources may be downloaded and used for personal, non-commercial instructional purposes unless a resource states otherwise.
Teachers may use and reproduce free resources with students they personally teach or directly support.
Unless a resource expressly states otherwise, free resources may not be:
Resold or commercially distributed
Posted publicly or uploaded to a shared resource library
Used to provide staff training or professional development
Presented as the user's own work
Used without required attribution
Used to generate a workshop, course, facilitator guide, training program, or other instructional product for distribution or sale
Uploaded, submitted, entered, scraped, or otherwise made available to train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, or improve an AI System
Free availability does not transfer ownership of the resource or grant permission beyond the uses described above.
8. Certificates and Professional-Development Hours
Courses may include a certificate confirming completion and the professional-development hours associated with that course.
Acceptance of a certificate or professional-development hours is determined by the purchaser's school, district, employer, licensing body, or other governing organization. GJR Literacy cannot guarantee that every organization will accept a certificate for credit, licensure, salary advancement, or another specific purpose.
Participants are responsible for confirming applicable requirements with their own organization before purchasing.
9. Refunds
Individual course purchases may be refunded when a request is submitted within seven calendar days of purchase, provided the purchaser has completed no more than 20% of the course.
Refunds are also available for an accidental duplicate purchase or a verified technical problem that prevents course access and cannot be resolved within a reasonable period. Other exceptional circumstances may be considered.
School, district, and team purchases are nonrefundable after purchased seats have been activated, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise. Unused seats may be transferable within the purchasing organization when permitted by the applicable agreement.
To request a refund, contact Gerrit@GJRliteracy.com and include the purchaser's name, the email address used for the purchase, and the course purchased.
The version of this refund policy in effect at the time of your purchase applies to that transaction.
10. School and Team Purchases
School, district, and team purchases are governed by a separate quote, invoice, purchase order, license, or written agreement, which controls where it differs from these Terms.
Access purchased for one school, district, organization, or team may not be transferred to another organization without written permission.
11. Coaching, Family Support, and School Partnerships
Coaching, family support, and school partnerships are arranged through a separate proposal, invoice, or written agreement, which controls where it differs from these Terms.
These services are educational. They do not constitute medical, psychological, legal, or diagnostic services and do not replace a formal school-based, clinical, or professional evaluation.
12. Educational Outcomes
GJR Literacy provides research-informed, classroom-tested educational strategies and support. Results depend on many factors outside GJR Literacy's control, including implementation, student needs, instructional context, available time, and participation.
We do not guarantee:
A particular student outcome
A specific amount of reading growth
Improved grades or assessment scores
Professional advancement or credential approval
That a strategy will work identically in every classroom or setting
Course materials and services are intended to support professional judgment, not replace it.
13. Intellectual Property
The websites and their content, including text, videos, photographs, graphics, logos, course materials, downloads, layout, and design, are owned by GJR Literacy or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
No ownership rights are transferred through use of the websites, purchase of a course, or participation in a service.
GJR Literacy does not grant permission to use its courses, materials, free resources, or website content to develop, train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, or improve an AI System, or to generate instructional products for distribution or sale. No use of the websites, purchase of a course, or access to a free resource creates any license, permission, or implied consent for that purpose.
Use beyond the permissions provided in these Terms requires prior written permission from GJR Literacy.
14. Third-Party Platforms and Links
GJR Literacy uses third-party services to provide website hosting, course access, payments, email communications, scheduling, video, and other functionality.
Those services may include Squarespace, Thinkific, payment processors, and other providers. Their own terms and privacy policies may apply.
GJR Literacy is not responsible for a third-party platform's content, availability, security, policies, or actions. We will make reasonable efforts to address access problems involving services we control.
The websites may also contain links to external websites. A link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement.
15. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the websites, services, or materials to:
Violate any law or the rights of another person
Disrupt or interfere with website or course-platform operation
Introduce malicious code or attempt unauthorized access
Harass, impersonate, or mislead another person
Copy, scrape, or extract content for unauthorized use
Infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights
Train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, or improve an AI System using course content, course materials, or free resources without written permission
16. Suspension or Termination
GJR Literacy may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of:
Nonpayment or a reversed payment
Account sharing
Unauthorized copying or distribution
Misuse of the websites or services
Violation of these Terms
Conduct that threatens the security or operation of the platform
When appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue before terminating access.
17. Disclaimer
The websites, courses, downloads, and services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
While GJR Literacy works to keep information accurate and materials available, we do not guarantee that the websites or services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose or setting.
Use of the materials and services is at your own discretion and risk.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GJR Literacy LLC and Gerrit Jones-Rooy will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the websites, courses, materials, or services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GJR Literacy's total liability relating to a purchase or service will not exceed the amount paid for the specific product or service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GJR Literacy LLC and Gerrit Jones-Rooy from claims, losses, or expenses arising from your misuse of the websites, courses, materials, or services; your violation of these Terms; or your infringement of another person's rights.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our services, platforms, business practices, or legal obligations.
The updated effective date will appear at the top of the page. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise permitted by law.
Continued use of the websites or services after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those revisions.
21. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws require otherwise.
22. General Provisions
Scope of these Terms. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, govern your use of the websites, the course platform, and any courses or digital materials you purchase. They do not replace a separate proposal, invoice, scope of work, or written agreement covering coaching, family support, school partnerships, or other services. Where a separate written agreement applies, that agreement controls for the service it covers, as described in Sections 2, 10, and 11.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Assignment. GJR Literacy may assign or transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the business. You may not assign or transfer your account, course access, or rights under these Terms to another person or organization without our written permission.
